February 17th: Staff Metrics

2014 Summer Staff
Today is the first round of hiring offers for summer camp employees.

If you weren't included in the first round, don't panic. Usually the first round is filled with returning staff and leadership staff who've completed the interview, references, and application process.

The 'Job Board' post will be coming soon and it will be based on our projected needs.

My goal is to put as much information online as possible, so all of our applicants and camp family can see the process. Share this information with your friends who have also applied and help spread the word.

Feb 17th: PSR Camp 2015 Staffing
Total Positions: 91
      Leadership Positions: 7.
      Staff Positions: 84.
Employment offers extended: 23 (about 25% of total)

Leadership Staff
Leadership positions filled: 7.
Leadership positions available: 0.
Average age of Leadership Staff: 21.0 years
Combined camp experience: 24 seasons of camp (+18 seasons for executive staff) = 42 seasons.

Staff Positions
Staff positions filled during first hiring round (February 17th): 16.
Staff positions still available: 68.
Returning Staff in Feb 17th round: 21
New staff in Feb 17th round: 2

We're scheduling interviews every week, so check on the blog, call (951-509-2264), or email us regarding interview times. The next round of hiring is coming up on March 17th, and we're hoping to hire at least another 25% of the positions available.

More Opportunities to Interview & First Round of Hiring

Next week on February 17th, we'll start extending offers of employment to people who've completed the pre-hiring process for our 2015 summer season.

This first round of hiring is mainly for leadership staff and returning staff, so don't panic if you're not selected. There are three more rounds of hiring between February 17th & May 19th.

We'll also be posting our job board (right here on our blog) next Wednesday so everyone can see which positions are remaining.

Help Wanted: Are You a Quick Learner?


We're currently seeking a qualified candidate to assist in the summer camp office, prior to and through our camp season, approximately from hiring date (Feb/2015) to August 4th.  Applicants must have basic computer and clerical skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.  Position located at the Southeastern California Conference office and transition to Pine Springs Ranch for the duration of employment.  For more information, please contact Stephanie Strode, Youth Ministries Secretary at (951) 509-2266.

The main workplace location for this employee would be the Southeastern CA Conference Office in Riverside (near La Sierra University) and you can request the job description and application via email or with the SECC Human Resources Department.

PSR Camp Increases Wage Enhancements for 2015 Season

The Past
If you have worked at camp before then you've probably seen our established starter wages for new employees:

PSR Summer Camp Employee Compensation (per week)
       $210 for student employees (SE1)
       $225 for counselors & class instructors (C & SE2)
       $240 for specialized/certified instructors (SE3)
       $255 for head instructors (PC1)
       $270 for leadership supervisors (PC2)

What you may or may not know is that PSR Camp offers the following wage enhancements:

PSR Summer Camp Employee Wage Enhancements (2014)
   +$10 per season of camp work experience at PSR (veteran enhancement).
   +$5 per season of camp work experience (at any summer or day camp).
   *Staff who are promoted must make at least $15 more than they did the previous summer.

The Present
After our annual budget review, we've decided to increase the enhancement scale for the 2015 season for our employees. Our goal is to put every dollar we can into the pockets of our staff so they can afford to work at camp and attend college & university.
